About Sarah
Sarah Davis studied Photo Imagery in Brisbane, with photojournalism in mind. Whilst her practise has since moved well beyond the camera, the interest in storytelling and observation has remained.
Since returning to rural Queensland in 2020, she has become increasingly interested in the stories that shape her. These often resurface in her work as symbols and unlikely connections.
When Sarah isn’t in the studio, she’s regularly involved in local art projects, or community groups, contributing to the creative life of the Western Downs.

Drawing on lived experience, Sarah uses symbolism and visual storytelling to explore narratives about relationships, identity, and survival.
Mental illness often sits beneath these works, not as subject, but as a lens through which experience is interpreted.
There’s usually a thread between humour and emotional weight. The stories are rarely settled.

Sarah’s work moves between personal projects and exhibitions, community projects, collaboration, and the occasional idea that won’t leave her alone.
Rarely sticking to a singular medium, Sarah’s work is defined by experimenting with new materials and processes, chosen for their ability to communicate.
Some pieces end up in the wild. Some end up on walls. Some stay half-baked.
